The Clash/Fela Kuti

Post by barstool »

A couple documentary DVD's I bought last week which are really good are:

THE CLASH 'Westway to the World'

FELA KUTI 'Music Is the Weapon'

Both really interesting.... Jay wrote somewhere that The Clash's 'London Calling' was a very influtential album for him.. and anyone who does not know who Fela Kuti was (invented Afro Beat.. the Bob Marley of African music if you will) should go buy/rent 'Music Is the Weapon'. Anyone ever seen any of these? What did you think?

For mind numbing...the opening intro to the Dead Movie always did it for me. The mountains becoming feet, tapping to the strains of the Wheel..
those were the daze.

Rock & Roll High School is the greatest rock n roll movie of all time.

I was a major pothead when I was younger, and I watched this movie , and Fast Times at Ridgemont High almost every night. Fast Times has a good soundtrack as well.

I realize this is a safe choice, but I have to go with any of Morricone's scores for the spaghetti westerns. Each have their moments so it is tough to pick. They make me want to squint, smoke hand-rolled cigarillos, and shoot people for gold.
