I just finished reading "This Wheel's on Fire" by Levon Helm. It's his story about being in The Band and seeing it all happen from the drummer's seat. It was a good read, Helm has a great sense of humor.

The Band is everything I love about music.

Best Band tunes you'll never hear on the radio:

1. Rockin' Chair
2. When You Awake
3. The River Hymn
4. Acadian Driftwood
5. We Can Talk

I just watched The Last Waltz, borrowed it from a friend. I need to get my own copy. Great stuff! Every serious music fan should see it.

I've only got their Greatest Hits cd from a few years ago, I understand it's incomplete and people have quibbles with the tracks included but hey, it's a good sampler. Sooner or later I'll have to get into the proper albums but this'll do for now.

I'd start with Music From Big Pink or The Band. Can't go wrong with either album.

I'm 29. I have heard the name always, and when I listened to the album, I knew a few of the songs, but never knew who sang them. I do know some GP, not sure why I was never introduced to the band until now.

If this post is serious, then, yes, I've heard of them. Listen to 'Music From Big Pink'. That album is on in my house almost every day.

If your just getting into the Band I would watch "The Last Waltz" it's a great DVD. It seems to be sold everywhere too. Dylan's "Basement Tapes" is also a great album including the Band.

The dog you see to the left is named Danko.

NOT a coincidence.

By the way can that pooch drum yet?
No. He hates me by the way. Loves my wife though.
Par for the course then for you really then.
