A Thumbs Up For Space Junk!
Terrior Blues is when the cd is mixed in with a collection of your other favorite cd's in whatever # changer/random player you have, the Space Junk's short, trippy, yet deep sound sets up the next, unknown song from your collection that you hear to a level where you never heard that song before. It may be a rocker, or it maybe a soft, emotional slow song. But because of the wonde
gb68--thanks for your note back about your musical background and such. I feel so....wordless....now! I never knew anything about some of the 20th classical music until being exposed to it by my husband who is really into it (Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Vainberg, Mahler, Adams...etc). In turn, he got stuck being turned on to all my stuff: every variation of Jay/Jeff, Freakwater, Husker Du/Bob Mould, Calexico, Replacements, etc. Surprisingly, it works for both of us.
I think what I like about the newer classical stuff is that it can be as discordant or more discordant as anything in rock music I have ever heard. It's that element of surprise or even astonishment at what comes next (and as you said, it made your kids run away!).
I think that's what I look for in rock music (or whatever label people give these bands). and in voices in particular. I've always like those odd voices--like Jay's, and Jeff's--they are imperfect yet surprisingly, they speak to you. It's tough to describe, I'm not a musician (I'm sure you can tell), but music is a huge part of my life. And, it's tough to get inspired these days trying to weed through all the me-too bands and singer/songwriters. This board will help--I already have a few new ones to try from reading all the posts.
Anyway, I guess I need to start working now too. My boss is in town!

Are you being a slut again, SJ? Or are you referring to sanctified, sweaty rolls in the hay?saratoga jay wrote:Fair enough....but,

I'm just so grateful for any positive feedback, because it's always in the back of my mind that someone is going to come down on me for being such a windbag. I've even gone back later and edited my ramblings down to a sentence or two. I'll write something when I'm sober and think it's great shit, then I'll look at it later when I'm high and find myself embarassed by it. My propensity for loquaciousness probably has something to do with my not meeting anyone from this board at the Bowery show. People were likely thinking to themsleves, "I'm not drinkin' with that dude."
Okay, I'm done. See you in Chicago if jury duty doesn't pan out.
