I have one of these with the foot controller (Limited Ed). This does the trick and then some.... Oddly I will be using it for a space type a ffect at the end of medication... I hope it sounds ok..

If it's a line 6 he's using its most likely a
DL 4 Line 6 Delay Modeler....
I'm really enjoying my DL-4... I don't have a very practical use for it yet, but again - after seeing WIll Johnson tear the room apart with one, I at least know its something that I will utilize.

Line 6 also makes an expression pedal - and I find myself wondering what that adds...

If any of you are familiar with the Mutron III envelope filter of the 70's this is a KING KONG Mutron with way more flexibility (LFO!!!) etc. It was designed by Mike Beigel (Biegel Sound Labs) in the 70's (He designed the Mutron) and EHX commissioned him to release this filter which should have been out back n the mid 70's but never came to fruit until now !!!!. He also designed the Q-Tron too.

It's not really my bag, but Keller Williams does some cool stuff with one of those. To me it's just all a bunch of playing with one's self.

Try the Boss Loop Station if you just want a loop pedal. It's the best one for the price $295. The Line 6 DL4 is mainly a delay pedal with a loop function so go with it if you want vintage and modern delay sounds.

Thanks everyone...

Yeah, I was weak and bought the Line 6 DL-4 ... it was payday...

I'm in the doghouse, but at least I have a toy to play with while I'm there.

twitcher,
i've played around with those line 6 delay modelers. they are cool - lots of sounds, fun to mess around with. don't know if i'd ever want to use one live, unless i had spent way too much time programming in advance.

ZVex has that Loop Junk http://www.zvex.com/junky.html

Nels Cline uses an old EH 16 second delay one that is probably hard to find and/or expensive.

I saw someone do this with all sounds made with his mouth - human beat box, singing, other wierd stuff - live in San Francisco. Really impressive.

I would say you could invest 2/3 in retirement and 1/3 in gear...

Once we do the responsible thing, there's less guilt in doing the gratuitis thing...

New gear is only an investment if you put it to use.
Post your music here when you finish recording it.

There needs to be an emoticon expressing the intense jaw-droppage state I am currently in while watching this....

But yeah... that's the pedal I want...

Guitar Loop Effect

Post by twitcher73 »

K - I saw Bobby Bare Jr and Will Johnson last week and both these guys were utilizing a pedal that would essentially record the chord progression they were playing and loop it repeatedly while allowing them to play a lead over it... I THINK it was a Line 6 (can't remember the model) and I found one online for like $250 -

Has anyone ever used one of these? They seem very cool... anyone know of another kind that might be less bling?
