Your wife digs Yanni.

Cranked to "11".

And candles.

Lots of candles.

You know, that High School Musical movie on the Disney channel rules my ass...instead of teeny bop music, however, I prefer to call it "if you can sing like that in high school, you will surely get to nail one of your teachers" music.

Ah, you people and your labels.

Although I do like post-grunge neo rock.

That's too much work!

When someone asks me what I listen to, I'll mumble something like, "alt.country" or "Americana". When they inevitably say What? I sigh and say, "Country. I listen to country. But it's not the country you can listen to on the radio."

They've invariably lost interest by then, but leave with the vague idea that I listen to Cowboy Troy.

OH, AND CONGRATS, GRAINPULP!!! YOU RULE MY ASS!

This is an interesting thread. Just today, I was discussing the type of music that I listen to with a guy who plays in a Beatles cover band. He had never heard of UT, SV, JF, etc. I was telling him about the Old Crow Medicine Show concert that I attended last night. I described this "genre" of music as Americana roots music. Of course, that description needs defining to many people. So, I discussed the use of traditional instruments such as fiddles, pedal steel, harmonicas, and the emphasis on acoustic instrumentation. I also explained the taking of older music and changing the rhythm and timing patterns to provide it with a more contemporary and urgent feel.

I am sure the above description does not begin to explain the type of music I enjoy but it is a start.
