This must be the only recorded instance of someone explaining who Joe Strummer was by mentioning that "he had a band called the Mescaleros".

I think that The Clash were a side-project.
What is this "Clash" of which you speak?
I never bothered to learn their names.

I can understand you not knowing Rob Collins, but Joe Strummer? Are you taking the fucking piss?!
I am a fat, ignorant, lazy American, so yes apparently I'm "taking the piss".

Okay, I respect and appreciate The Clash, even own a bit, but I was never into them to the point of knowing who the band members were.
You love U2, and you don't know who Joe Strummer is!!!

I'm sure that would be a death sentence in some countries!

Only jesting, darling! I love you really!

MWAH! MWAH!

Lennon was a shock of course and John Bonham was as well but I was only 15 or so then.

Joe Strummer had a band called the Mescalaros(sp?). He died around 2000-2001 if I remember correctly. They were OK.

Who were they?

Gerry Garcia for me, and to a lesser extent John Lennon.
