As someone from "this side of the pond," it always seems weird to me that TFC headlined ahead of ANYONE over there! What did you make of UT on that first viewing?
I'm still pondering where to place my vote. I will say, though, that UT rocking out to "Suzie Q" is one of my all time top 10 rock "moments."
I have never seen either of them so I cannot say. I did however see Teenage Fanclub top a three band bill on which the last band mentioned was Nirvana.
So I vote for Teenage Fanclub.

I went with my buddy who was into TFC (I thought they were pretty good). I can't really give an accurate assessment of UT on that night way back in '92. Mostly because I think I've "built it up" in my memory archives, probably to the point where they now seem far better than they were. I remember bobbing my head fiercely anyhow... and I do remember thinking that the bass player was on methamphetamine. The acoustics were terrible for both bands at the venue (I want to say "The Gas Station"? It was somewhere in NYC).maura tierney wrote:As someone from "this side of the pond," it always seems weird to me that TFC headlined ahead of ANYONE over there! I went with UT as I've seen them but not DBT's. Not a very fair question as
maybe 4 people on the board (okay, maybe 7) were even aware of UT when
they were together, much less seen 'em live. So I expect the overwhelming
majority of respondents to go with DBT's. UT has much better songs, though.
Just my $0.02.
