I am 28% through this book (gotta love e-readers!) and I have to say it is living up to the hype. I just encountered the first big "reveal" of this book, and it's an eye opener!

Brother Claude

Ain't No Grave: the Life and Legacy of Brother Claude Ely

Baby Doll surprised me with the book after she heard the story on NPR.

It's really good and about Appalachia, Pentecostals, and how devoted Brother Claude Ely was to his work, not to mention how record labels and unscrupulous traveling thieves stole Southerner's music back in the day.

This book is well done, hand-sewn, and has wonderful black-and-white photographs.

Love,
Pony

Pretty good so far. It lets you set your gardening schedule according to your area's average last frost date.

I suppose I should post this on the gardening thread as well.

Ok. I will.

Thanks for the heads up. This sounds like a good read and will be next on my list. I'm not a Tampa Bay fan but I do like a well written book on baseball...and it sounds like there is the possibility of ending up a Rays fan.

In the meantime I keep plodding through Holy Shit, a book about manure!

Andy Catlett's Early Travels
by
Wendell Berry

Sometimes I think I've read several pages and realize I've gotten sidetracked in my own mind, only to go back several pages and find out it's because he's been writing my mind.
