My fave bar in Chicago when I lived there. Al was there a lot, along with assorted members of Mudhoney, Urge Overkill, all kinds. I have tons of pics from that place, including the last nite it was open. Crazy stuff was always going down there. Good times.

yeah, call me a benedict arnold if you wish, but i chose sam beam(not to be confused with his drunken brother, jim) over the 7 hour drive to see the jay gang. a 20 minute ride to experience a wonderful musical force. sam's countrified weepers, southern, gothic murder ballads, mississippi blues boogies and south carolina low country story songs are no pilfered and purloined pieces but heartfelt transcriptions of the whisper, buzz, and howl of the human comedy, divine or damaged. the fairytale belt of the bible wrapped around the neck of a martin yields a fine return on the dollar. yeah, maybe, just maybe, after see a darkness oldham, 4 a.m. buckner and heart on the ground farrar, i found myself another guitar hero.

tim reynolds on saturday; catch his utube moments with dave matthews; a gifted guitarist

rumor has it matthews was a bartender where reynolds was playing; matthews was so captivated that he tried to join reynold's band; reynolds told him to do his own thing; the rest is history
