I love the new Sufjan. It's a nice return to his old form (minimalist banjo/guitar). It's also extremely personal and painful, which makes it so much more real than his previous albums that have focussed on external topics. The album is about the fairly recent loss of his schizophrenic mother, who abandoned him when he was very young.
