Ah, hockey back in the good ol' bygone days of yore. Fighting in the stands (players and fans). Helmetless, drunk on the ice. The Gordie Howe hat trick. I love Slap Shot because a) it's funny as hell, but b) (perhaps more importantly) it is not a parody. The Hansons may have been slightly hyperbolized, but not by much. Kids today could see that movie and think it was completely over the top, but the cool thing was, it wasn't. That's really how things were with hockey in the '70s.
