I know there are some Milton Mapes/Monahans fans here.

I wanted to let you know that Greg Vanderpool (singer, guitar and songwriter) for Milton Mapes and Monahans has a great new record out on bandcamp.

He only made 100 copies on vinyl. (There are 8 copies left).

Pressed on 180 gram vinyl and each lyric sheet includes an original pencil sketch of various regional landscapes, signed by the artist.

It is available here for only $20:

https://gregvanderpool.bandcamp.com/album/sub-raton

or just stream on bandcamp.

Even if you are not familiar with Milton Mapes / Monahans, this is definitely worth checking out.

This record sounds great (based on the test pressing) and reminds me of the best of Milton Mapes.

2020 has been a gawdawful year, but the music's been fairly good.

Isbell is totally dialed in. 'Reunions' is a *great* record. "It Gets Easier" might be my song of the year thus far. And as a father of daughters, the final song on the record -- "Letting You Go" -- is a welcome punch in the gut.

I also agree that the Jayhawks 'XOXO' is really good. It's a bit uneven and sporadic, but a great collection of songs. "Dogtown Days" is brilliant -- rocking and sloppy in the best way.

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings 'All the Good Times are Past & Gone.' So good. Sounds like it came from 1920 instead of 2020.

The Jayhawks ‘Xoxo’: No Olson but songwriting and vocals from the entire band. I like having the new voices. O’Reagan’s songs are terrific. And I like Perlman’s song, too.

Reunions- really good album, he's dialed in his writing style for sure.
Caamp- By and By , I second that, excellent.
JS Ondara "Folk n Roll" vol 1. his quarantine album is outstanding, check this out! singer\songwriter style.
Phoebe Bridgers "Punisher" is on constant replay right now. she's quite lovely.
Check out Drunken Prayer also, "Cordelia Everywhere" album is fun and "Into the Water" is a great song!

Many years ago a board member put a Howlin’ Rain song on one of the yearly roundups. I loved that song and somehow thought of them yesterday. Looked, and am now listening to their latest, “The Alligator Bride.”
