Looks like he once again made the claim that the new incarnation formed in 2006 and it's first album was "the Search".

This is the same writer, from the Salt Lake Tribune, who wrote the preview that was posted in the Contain Yourselves thread of last week. At that time he was off on the number of Son Volt albums but he seems to be aware of that this time around. But this time he certainly appears to have misnamed Mark Spencer! (But that could very well be because of always up-to-date press kit provided by the swanky jayfarrar.net site). Along with the general feel of the review, I did like his description of the "all business aesthetic". I thought that was spot on, at least based on the one time I saw the band play.

according to this guy, derry de borja was playing keys and lap steel?

derry don't play no lap steel ...

i assume it was spence?

who's, what, 4 feet taller than derry?

at least jay is mixing the set list up ... sounds like he added windfall, tear-stained eye and drown!

"Review
Son Volt brings out the rock in country rock

Thanks to the Eagles and the Byrds, the genre of country rock has historically implied easygoing music.
Son Volt shattered that notion Friday night at the Paladium in a 100-minute set in which the guitars were loud and the drumming was powerfully insistent, pleasing the 200 people inside the west Salt Lake City venue. "

they try their best but still...it takes the Pony Express a day or two get where they need to get.

horses need some rest every once in awhile, too.

i'd give'em some more time.
