I have really tried to like that Bob Mould album and I am just not feeling it. The Black Mountain album is superb. The Black Crowes Warpaint is another good one. I am one of the few that like the Counting Crows album. REM and Accelerate. The Black Keys cd is outstanding, top three for me at least. Willard Grant Conspiracy and Lambchop turned in good ones. Metallica, Fleet Foxes and John Hiatt gave us good stuff. MMJ , Sigur Ros, David Byrne/Brian Eno, Black Stone Cherry, TV On The Radio...all good stuff.
Top for me so far this year has been Elbow's best album yet, The Seldom Seen Kid.

You were so right!!!
Ah, gdavis darling, baby best record loving friend!
You are right: The Hold Steady - Stay Positive ... Big Poppie says, "Yes, sign."
Love it, automatically cause I'm anticipating how the band will sound closing the show with DBT opening at the Moon in early November, Tallahassee ...
I'll record every bit of it for you, and send along a copy in 15 years.
BADASS SHOW,
Your real bossie Pony

We won't find out 'til 2009, which makes it silly to have put it on your best of 2008 list before it came out.Bill Carson wrote:Teh Rube wrote:Funny how an album that may not even come out this year and no one has heard any tracks from can be album of the year.
I doubt it'll be better than this:
Oh please. Even the guy who worked on that album said Ready For the Flood blows it away.

Firstly - Mastodon.Grifterwithafunnylittleha wrote:Here are a couple I like real good:
Mars Volta, Bedlam in Goliath
Witch, Paralyzed
DCFC, Narrow Stairs
Bon Iver, For Emma, Forever Ago
Grand Archives, Self-titled
Did Dinosaur's Beyond come out this year? I think I recall it's an 07, and I love it. I'm ghey for Jhey.
Oh, and the latest Charlie Daniels record, too. Whatever year; Charlie kicks all ass.
Hopeful for the remainder of the year:
B.B. King
Dead Confederate
Mastodon
Tallicur

Sweet Pony
Typically not a huge fan of this genre; but you can't help but love Mastodon. Same with Messhugah, in my opinion. Just undeniably, freakishly good.
And the Volta.
A bad ass band; super tight and absurdly nice to my son back when he was all sick and bald, bleh.
there aren't many photos of this band in their entirety.
Thomas Prigden is maybe one of the most amazing drummers I have ever seen in my life.
I took photos at their last Houston show several months back.
