The day after Darby Crash actually. No one cares about him though.

Greg, greg, greg, put down the Maker's bottle and actually read. It's living songwriters, my friend.
John Lennon's dead? Oh no! When the hell did this happen? What about Patsy Cline? I just love her, I wonder how come she don't put out no more new records.

I am sure that Tom "What's He Building In There" Farrarfan1 agrees.
I am sure he does. He knows it makes sense.

Brian, did you wear the same underwear for all those songs? Was there an underwear routine or did you just throw caution to the wind and do what the hell you wanted?

Oh and Tom Waits is plainly the number one.

As much as I love Zeppelin I am pretty sure it's a stretch to say they wrote the bulk of their material.

Why is Wayne Coyne on the list? I love the lips, but great songwriter?

Where is Steve Cropper? He was instrumental as a songwriter in the Stax sound, in addition to being a brilliant musician arranger and guitarist.

Pretty goofy list.

39. Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, John Bonham)
I'm pretty sure John Bonham is dead.

That is no list, my friends.

Without Paul Weller, without Billy Joe Shaver, without Unknown Hinson-the KING of country & western troubadours...baby...yeah yeah?

Without them this is no list, my friends

in my mind, there's no question Robert Pollard is the greatest songwriter who ever lived

and he's still alive, last i checked ... hope so because i'm seeing him in NY and philly in october

his body of work from forever since breakfast through from a compound eye is simply beyond belief

i think if i made a list of the 1,000 best songs ever written he'd be responsible for 500 or so

surprised they even put him on the list

oh, and there's also no question in my mind the guy from counting crows is the worst song writer ever

Grass for the Good Dr. Dre

As soon as Obama finished up, I put in the AM with all of the recording's nostalgia and remembrance.

The fact the band still plays the tunes is testament to the quality tunes.

This record helped me write my first book on cups of coffee and jitters. This record helped me get through 2:30 am delusions.

And it makes me want to smoke a good J for the remainder of tunes after the first track. Rolling good now, friends.

What a quality work ...

Here we go...
"I Must Be High": My Rick 360.
"Casino Queen": SG Junior. Don't remember if it was John's or Jeff's.
"Box Full Of Letters": Tom Parr's Les Paul Custom. Overdubbed the solo with my Tele.
"Shouldn't Be Ashamed": Same SG Junior.
"Pick Up The Change": Gretsch Corvette. Used to be mine, but, I had traded it to John, for an Ampeg Rocket amp by this time.
"I Thought I Held You": I don't remember.
"That's Not The Issue": My Tele.
"It's Just That Simple": My Tele.
"Should've Been In Love": Gretsch Corvette.
"Passenger Side": My Tele.
Dash 7: I didn't play on.
"Blue Eyed Soul", my Gretsch Jet Firebird.
"Too Far Apart": I can't remember. Maybe the Jet Firebird?

Amps, I have very little memory of. I think I used 'em all though, except the Hot Rod Deluxe. Jeff mostly used that.
We had a Fender Deluxe Reverb, a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, a Fender Super Reverb, a Silvertone 1482 I used for the "soft rock" sound on "Pick Up The Change", an ancient Rickenbacker amp I used on "Blue Eyed Soul", A Vox AC-30 I used on "It's Just That Simple", and a tiny Alamo Challenger I used on "That's Not The Issue" (Jeff gave it to me after the sessions...).
There were some big Marshalls around too, but, we never used 'em.
It was either the Deluxe Reverb, or, the Super Reverb on "Passenger Side".

I only remember using two pedals, an Electro Harmonix Small Stone Phase Shifter for "Passenger Side", and a cheapass 29 dollar DOD "American Metal" for "Shouldn't Be Ashamed". (It's the fuzzy sound you hear when it breaks down to my guitar right before the solo...).
That's the fax, Jax...
Brian
