My car stereo has an AUX connection? Where, in the back like my home receiver? If so, I'm not removing the stereo from the dash to access it. Thank you anyhoo, Robbie.

Obviously nothing would beat a stereo that has an iPod jack but I have always had good luck with Monster Cable. It is one of those 'FM things' but I am on my second one, the first one's cable 'shorted' after several years. The new model is smaller and works well.

We had one of those FM ones, it sucked. Both of our cars have a jack now. Wife's Scion has two, one for a regular Mp3, one for an Ipod. You can control the Ipod with the steering wheel sound control buttonws.

This is ipod related so I am putting it here. I am guessing most of here have some sort of mp3 player, what method do you use to listen to it in your car? There are those tape deck things that work great for about a month before the wire gets all screwy and you have to hold it just so. I have tried a couple of those FM transmitters but again, the sound quality is dubious at best. THe last option seems to be buying an in-dash stereo system with some kind of ipod attachment. But those are a little cost prohibitive considering most of my car trips are less than 10 minutes long, plus my car stereo seems pretty good and I don't want to get rid of it. Which method do most of you use? Thanks for any help.

I don't know why I'm still interested in this thread, probably because I created it. I am not a fan of making playlists, playlists = gayness, but when I want to hear a melange of songs I just type in a word in the search box and play whatever comes up randomly.

Now mind you, the numbers reflect not just song titles but albums, artists and even if the letters of the word appear in order e.g. Ali appears in all Ali Farka Toure songs and in The Avett Brothers' Emotionalism. Thought you'd like to know.

Being forced to be in the office today with absolutely nothing to do I decided to play around in iTunes and organize and whatnot. I noticed there are currently 11663 songs by 233 artists. Of the 11663 songs, 1178 of them are by or partly attributed to, in some way, shape or form, Jay Farrar. This is 10% of the total on my ipod. The second largest total by an artist is Neil Young with a paltry, by comparison, 425 and Neil Young has been performing for over 40 years. As a caveat, I will add that of the 1178, most are live versions of released songs but there are still 350 unique songs that he wrote, contributed to or played on. Am I alone in this or do your mp3 players also reflect this obsession?
