Can you do any Catfish Noodlin' on that?
would you believe me if I told you that I remember zero about that?
That happened in San Jose and I know I started in San Francisco that night.
whoops.

I believe it after seeing the videos. You looked like you'd been living the lyrics to a Motorhead song on that night. Another reason to love SH.

Thanks for all the information everybody. I've been able to make a good decision about the nut replacement.

Check this out (I think 10,000 people watch it over and over again like me.)

I love the days of Hedges, MacLaughlin (Billy), and all the soloers, individual accompaniests - uhhhhhhhhhhh ....

I love it, no matter what.

What Creston said.

This probably speaks more to my own level of incompetence as much as anything, but I'd have a pro do it, especially any guitar with a trem like a Strat or anything with a Bigsby. If the nut setup is off, it'll never stay in tune. That's why I stick to Tele's and SG's.

Unless you want to invest in the files, I'd say take it to a repair shop. The difference between a pretty-good nut and a good nut is the difference between a lousy guitar and a good guitar. It takes practice and isn't easy. Even a pre-slotted nut will likely need the slots adjusted to play in tune below the fifth fret. A set of good files costs $100ish. Repair shop should be like $35-$40. I use unbleached bone for everything and polish them with MicroMesh 1500-6000.

I'm no luthier but have changed out many a nut. Best advice is to be GENTLE when removing the old nut. The rest is a piece of cake.

Glad you like it - it sounds and plays fantastic. I'm playing it through a '59 Bassman RI and it rips it up!

Oh, yeah. My DeVille replaced one of these. Our singer, who plays strictly acoustic, used it for a while. This is one loud SOB of an amp and it's got a nice revert, too. Might be real spring. However, it's solid state. If your budget allows, go tube. If not, you can pick one of these up on ebay or craigslist for $100-$150.
That is one loud freaking amp. I used to have one but traded it in on a Classic 30.
