Ditto, of course. As well, the Adirondacks, and around the Shawangunks/Catskills. Prob. listening to Rammstein, tho.
Agreed on the 'gunks/Catskills. Great hiking, swimming holes, climbing, not too far from NYC. Adirondacks too.

There's a nice long walk to Grey Owl's cabin near Waskesiu, a little north of Saskatoon.

America -- is there anywhere where land would be as sweet?

Africa? nah

Asia? keep it

Europe? maybe --but they have no mighty Miss. or Grand Can. or Smoky Mts.

Antartica? too white

Aussie State? too red --

Southern Missouri and northern Arkansas in the middle of the ancient Ozarks is cool as well, despite some of the poverty and destitution. Google Ozark Trail.

New Mexico is very fine! Big Bend and Copper Canyon are also gorgeous desert regions. I also enjoy the Ozark region. The Ozarks have definitely entered my top 10. Thanks to my wife being an avid river rat I'm blessed with the beauty of taking the canoe through the sub-tropical spooky
forests of the Ozarks. Beware of Cedar Grove....local shenanigans.

sweet..thanks--

The Ozarks trail is on my list for sure. Arkansas is one of those states that is still off the radar.

the redwoods, russian gulch (no co). my favorite is ocean and forest. I also enjoy the undeveloped land of Mississippi and Alabama. The swamps of Alabama are quite beautiful in the fall and winter. the south is good for the quite walk or drive through ancient tribal lands. you may go several hundred miles without a walmart.
