Actually someone here put a track from his last album on the 2013 boar comp which introduced me to what has turned out to be my latest musical obsession. The guy doesn't stop.
That was me (I believe) -
and I'll second your vote for this lp - best of the year.

I'll add the new Screaming Females lp - Rose Mountain (this chick shreds on guitar)
And Steven Wilson - Hand Cannot Erase (for 21st prog fans)

Honorable mention to the Bottle Rockets, always solid.
I completely agree with you about the Bottle Rockets

I can't believe this one missed my year-end list. Just a mistake of omission. Absolutely one of my favorites of the year. "You Got to Me" and "Carlisle's Haul" ... Damn, man.

South BroadwY Athletic Club is growing on me,I love Brian's voice and blue collar lyrical emphasis,"Shape of a Wheel" is a great song, the Ric sounds beautiful there.
Preferred over Tweedy's wheel-metaphor tune off of Ghost isBorn.

The reworking of Taylor Swift's album really showed off her lyrical chops.

Interesting. I thought the new Finn was much stronger than his first. "Maggie I've Been Searching for Our Son" and "Newmeyer's Roof" knock me flat. The former may even be my favorite song of the year.

Having said the above I really can't wait for the next Jay solo album or the next configuration of Son Volt. At this time next year we should be putting that on our best of's for 2016.
