Just saw Elvis Costello at the Masonic (SF)--tremendous show. 30 songs, the new stuff is great live, Pete Thomas and Steve Nieve are, well, their awesome selves, and the two singers are integral, vital parts of the show and sound. Not to be missed.
Upcoming next week: Willie Nelson, and 2 days later Kurt Vile, both at the Fox (Oakland). Pretty good start to the holidays!
Wanted to catch the descendents in tulsa..saw a gazillion punk shows back in the day but never saw them..saw ALL a couple of times. Nick Masons Saucerful of Secrets in Irving TX will.prob be my next..think I'd regret big time missing that
Vilodah & I are thinking about hitting up one of his shows. How was he?
One of my favorite shows in a long time. He played most of his new album (which came free with each ticket), but also played a decent mix of old Heads songs. Visually, the show was incredibly unique and entertaining.
Lydia Loveless TONIGHT @ the 40 Watt in Athens, GA. I'm so fired up. She's been one of my all-time favorites for some time now, and I've never gotten the chance to see her live. Her last two records, "Real" and "Boy Crazy & Single(s)" are two of the best alt-country records of any time period. Both harken back to the heyday of the nascent alt-country movement. Sounds like 1997, but for now it sounds like heaven...
